Athletics

General Sports Information
Athletics is an integral part of the development of students in Middle School. It is the Mission of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Athletic Department to inspire each student to extraordinary achievement
During each season of sport, the school's athletic department may ask for donations to contribute to the expenses of uniforms, equipment, and officials. While any donation is appreciated, the suggested donation amount is $100 per sport. The California Constitution’s free school guarantee prohibits charging students any fee, charge, or deposit for extracurricular, credit, or non-credit activities that are part of the District’s or school site’s educational program. Though many programs request parent/guardian donations, which are permissible, these donations are not mandatory. Donations should be made through the school’s webstore found on the school’s website. Donations are not refunded. All donations will be made to the General Athletics Account. Donations in any amount are very much appreciated and will be equitably distributed to athletic teams in compliance with Title IX.
Any questions in regards to afterschool sports should be directed to our Athletic Director, Doug Blanchard at dblanchard@lvjusd.org.
Thank you!
Eligibility
Academic Requirements
Each trimester, students must earn a 2.0 GPA and maintain good academic standing and attendance throughout the athletic season. Activity eligibility is used for participation in athletics, Leadership, as an ASB student representative, and a variety of other student activities. A physical form signed by a doctor is required for all sports before participation is allowed and is good for one calendar year. An athlete must attend 50% of class periods during the school day in order to participate in a game or practice held on that day (unless excused for a portion of the day due to a medical appointment, etc.). Students who are serving a suspension on the day of a game cannot play in that game.
Physical Requirements
All students participating in sports must complete the LVJUSD physical form OR the CIF Preparticipation Physical Forms PRIOR to trying out or participating in open gyms. Once a student turns in their paperwork, they will be cleared to participate. NOTE: Physical forms remain valid for one year from the date of the physician's signature. Physical forms can be obtained from the office or can be downloaded below:
Athletic Clearance
Student athletes must complete their online registration through Home Campus including a signed parent permission form and a physical examination form signed by a medical doctor before they are permitted to participate in a practice or a contest. There are no circumstances under which a coach may allow a student to participate before these documents are submitted and verified.
