Welcome to the FJMS Running Club!
Running club is for TK-5th Graders and meets Wednesday mornings before school, from 8:00-8:25. We will not meet on school holidays or days the school is closed, and running club will be canceled on rainy days for safety.
Running club is free for JMS students, and there is no commitment to attend. All ability levels are welcome, and no experience is required.
The drop off location for running club is the middle school gate located at the far end of the drop off loop near the playground.
Rules:
- Registration and a waiver are required, no exceptions. Students who arrive without completing registration at least 24 hours in advance will be turned away. If they are unattended by an adult, they will be sent to the front office where they will remain until school campus opens.
- An adult must be present at drop off to ensure your student is checked in properly.
- Joe Michell School is a closed campus. Only registered student participants and cleared volunteers may enter campus to participate in the running club.
- Participants must wear appropriate footwear or they will be unable to participate. This means closed-toe and closed-back athletic-type shoes.
- Running club will be canceled on rainy mornings to prevent injury. Cancelation notices will not be sent on rainy mornings. Rain = no Running Club.
- Running club participants are expected to be respectful and courteous toward other participants and volunteers and follow school rules.
- Failure to follow running club rules may be grounds for disqualification from running club.

Garden Program
- Did you know there is a garden at Joe Michell School? FJMS volunteers work with teachers and students to plant, care for, learn about, and taste different plants throughout the school year. It’s an awesome opportunity for our kids to get outside and learn to love and care for our planet.
- The garden program wouldn’t be possible without our awesome volunteers, lead by our garden director Joelle Cook, and the support of our JMS teachers and our community. If you would like to volunteer to help with the school garden, please email our volunteer director. You must be fully cleared through the district.
- Our garden is also supported by donations from our community! If you would like to donate directly to the garden, click here to make a donation, or check out our School Garden Amazon Wish List.
- A very special thanks to a local nonprofit, Fertile GroundWorks, for helping us keep our garden growing and thriving.
JMS Teacher and Staff Support
Teacher and Staff Appreciation
FJMS provides lunches, snacks, and other treats throughout the school year to celebrate and thank our JMS teachers, staff, and admins for their hard work.
Community Members: If you would like to contribute to our teacher and staff appreciation efforts, you can contact our volunteer director to get involved, or make a donation directly to Teacher and Staff Appreciation.
- How to donate: Click here to donate or look for requests for food and other donations from our volunteer director, on our Social Media, or on our list of current volunteer opportunities on the Support FJMS page.
Teachers and Staff: If you would like to provide feedback to our Appreciation Team, please fill out our staff feedback form.
Grants and Funding for Teachers
- FJMS gives JMS teachers in every grade funding each year. Check with April Mata in the office to see if you have funding available to you.
- If you need additional funding, please fill out our Grant Application Form. Grants are available throughout the school year. We have approved grants of various sizes for a range of needs for individual classrooms, grade levels, and more, and have also helped teachers find additional grants in the community.
- Please encourage your students' families to participate in FJMS Fundraisers! The availability of grant funds depends heavily on the success of our fundraisers.
- Grants must be approved by both JMS Administration as well as the FJMS board. It typically takes about a month for a grant to be approved, but may be longer depending on funding availability and other factors. Please note on the application if your grant is urgent.
Volunteer Requests
Teachers or staff needing help requesting volunteers are welcome to fill out our FJMS Volunteer Request Form. Our Volunteer Director will work with you to create a sign up and contact our FJMS volunteers to get help for your project or event.
